CLOCKING

What is Car Clocking?

Car clocking occurs when the reading of a vehicle's odometer is reduced. The purpose of doing this is to give the impression that the distance travelled by that particular vehicle is much less than the reality.

Clocking in progress
This type of fraud is committed by unscrupulous car dealers who use clocking to make vehicles appear more valuable than they actually are.

This might not sound like particularly serious crime, but it has been estimated that car clocking is costing consumers in the region of £100 million per year.
