Spotting a Clocked Car
If you feel that the mileage of a used car is surprisingly low, look for other signs of how much it has been used by its previous owners.
- Are the pedal rubbers worn?
- Is there a large amount of wear and scuffing on the mats and carpets?
- Is the steering wheel excessively worn and shiny?
- Are the seats (especially the driver's seat) showing signs of wear?
- Does the bodywork show serious amounts of stone chipping?
- Are the numbers on the odometer incorrectly aligned?
If you can answer YES to any of these questions you should certainly think twice before buying.
